Happy New Year’s Eve!
I can’t believe that we’re on the cusp of a new year. Thank you for joining me on this journey of 2023. My goal was to write and share at the end of each month - which I accomplished all but for November (oops!)
Here are a few things that caught my eye recently:
Done with the doodle pad
Above is an image of my “Fall 2023” doodle pad. Measuring 18 x 24 inches, this pad covered my desk this past fall. As you can see, it is one part calendar, the other half is doodles and 25% random musings. Now to get started on my Winter/Spring 2024 doodle pad!
Baylor basketball mural:
This past July I got a text from an old friend of mine (named Joe Rooster.) He wanted to know if I would be interested in being part of a mural at Baylor University’s new basketball arena -the Foster pavilion.
Like most people, I am reluctant to sign up for big projects outside of my comfort zone but with encouragement from my wife, I joined the crew with the pros - Rooster and Hi-Def Willy.
I learned a lot these past few days and enjoyed getting a chance to work alongside Rooster and Hi-Def Willy. We just finished up the wall - pics below.
*Fun Fact: Joe Rooster helped me paint my first mini-mural over 15 year ago:
Music of the month: Sufjan Stevens
For December, I listened to the quiet and strange music of Sufjan Stevens - partly because he has quite a few Christmas songs on a couple of albums. I’ve listened to some Sufjan over the years but wanted to explore his work further.
My favorite albums of Sufjan (in no particular order) were:
The Age of Adz
Songs for Christmas
Illinois
The Avalanche
Pareidolia of the month
Here are a few faces randomly found recently:
Alright, that’s it folks - I hope you have a great 2024 and we will see you around. Take care and thank you again for following along with the Eye of the Storm.
